Where the money goes
Four people, five days in a hill station, decent hotel, normal eating. The tickets everyone argued about are under a fifth of the trip. Food alone is twice the travel cost, and almost nobody plans for it.

A car costs the same whether one person sits in it or five. A ticket is charged per head. So there is an exact number of people above which driving becomes cheaper. No travel website tells you this number.
