After a trip everyone has paid for something and nobody knows where they stand. Enter what each person paid. You get each person's balance and the smallest set of payments that settles everything.
The formula
Total = Everything everyone paid
Fair share = Total x (that person's share / total shares)
Balance = What they paid - their fair share

Match the biggest payer with the biggest ower, transfer
the smaller of the two amounts, then repeat.
Four people usually settle in 2 or 3 payments,
not the 12 that everyone paying everyone would need.
What this assumes
- Everyone shares equally unless you change the share number. A couple sharing a room can be given 2.
- Balances under one rupee are treated as settled. A one rupee transfer helps nobody.
- Assumes all the money was spent on the shared trip. Personal shopping should be left out.
- The settle up is close to the smallest possible, not proven smallest. The difference is rarely more than one payment.
- Nothing you type is saved on our server. It stays in the page and in the link.
Common questions
Why not just have everyone pay everyone?
Because that makes far more payments than needed. Four people paying each other means twelve transfers. Matched properly it is usually two or three.
Can people have unequal shares?
Yes, change the share number. A couple sharing one room might have 2 against a single traveller's 1. Their fair share becomes proportional.
Is my data saved?
No. Nothing is stored on our server. The numbers stay in the page and in the link, which is also how you share the result with your group.
What if someone paid nothing at all?
That is completely fine and very common. They simply owe their full share. The calculator handles it.
