Why we made this
Search for what a trip costs in India and you get a ticket price. The ticket is usually under a fifth of what you actually spend. Nobody answers the real question, which is what four of us will spend in five days.
That gap exists because the fare sites are booking engines. Their job is to sell a ticket and they do it far better than we ever could. Our job is different. We work out the whole number, and answer the questions a booking site has no reason to ask.
Who runs it

What we are not
We are not a travel agency and not a booking site. We are not connected to Indian Railways, IRCTC, any state transport corporation, any bus operator, any airline or any hotel. We do not sell tickets and will never ask you for a payment.
How the site makes money
The site is free and shows advertising. No affiliate links, no booking commission, no paid listings. No hotel or operator pays to appear in a result.
What we do differently
- The budget planner covers the whole trip, not just the ticket. Hotel, food, autos and entry tickets included.
- The car calculator finds the break-even, the number of people above which driving beats the train. This is the question that settles the argument.
- Fares are ranges, not numbers, worked out from published rates instead of scraped from a booking site.
- Wear and tear is in the car cost. Leaving it out is why driving so often turns out costlier than people expected.
Corrections
Fuel prices move weekly and hotel rates change every season. If a benchmark here is wrong for a place you know well, please write to us. Local knowledge is the thing we need most and can research least.
